With seven new model launches planned between 2006 and 2009, Volvo Cars is going through an unprecedented period of new product introductions. This year’s launches include the XC60 Concept, which was unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show at the beginning of the year, and the all-new V70 and XC70. Global sales for 2006 were down 3.6 percent compared with 2005. But the first quarter of 2007 show an increase in sales figures. However, a strong recovery was recorded during the fourth quarter and I feel confident that this trend will continue in 2007, now that the new C70, S80 and C30 are available on the market. The all-new Volvo S80 has been launched on the important American market and is followed by the C30, our new, small car that has already received several prestigious awards, such as Das Goldene Lenkrad (Golden Steering Wheel).

The main challenges during 2007 will be to implement our growth plan in developing markets, such as China and Russia, while maintaining market share in our mature markets. We will also be working hard to address customer demands for lower fuel consumption and alternative drivelines, and to demonstrate the commitment of Volvo Cars to its core value of Environmental care.
